AkzoNobel Cellulosic Specialties
AkzoNobel’s STAFLO®,GABROIL™ and GABROSA™ brands represent a full range of high-performance purified and technical Carboxy Methyl Cellulose (CMC) and Poly Anionic Cellulose (PAC) grades to meet the demands of various drilling fluid systems.
AkzoNobel is one of the few companies that supplies both technical and purified CMC and PAC grades. The Staflo types are PAC grades with a minimum purity of 98%. Gabroil and Gabrosa are technical grades which are economically attractive alternatives for drilling applications that do not require the high purity.
PAC - The Staflo and Gabroil PAC’s are the products of choice in high electrolyte containing systems:
Staflo Regular and Staflo Exlo
Staflo Regular and Staflo Exlo are premium PAC grades with 98% active material. These materials outperform most of the other PAC’s with regard to fluid loss reduction, viscosity contribution and shale inhibition.
Gabroil PAC Hivis and Gabroil PAC Lovis
Gabroil PAC Hivis and Gabroil PAC Lovis are high quality technical PAC grades that give an excellent cost/performance ratio and can be used in severe electrolyte containing systems.
Gabroil HV and Gabroil LV
Gabroil HV and Gabroil LV grades are suitable for less severe conditions or where economic aspects dominate.
CMC - AkzoNobel’s CMC grades are marketed under the Gabrosa name:
Gabrosa EHV Tech
Gabrosa EHV Tech is an efficient viscosifier and fluid loss reducer. It meets both the OCMA*
DFCP-7 specification and the API** specification for drilling CMC Hivis grades.
Gabrosa HV Tech and LV Tech
Gabrosa HV Tech is a medium viscosity grade with the same fluid loss properties as LV Tech, but also producing instant viscosity increase without the risk of over-treatment.
