Driven by consumer preference and regulation, the replacement of organic solvents and volatile organic compounds (VOCs) by water-based systems in the formulation of coatings is one of the most active areas of development within AkzoNobel and the coatings industry in general.
Waterborne technologies are of strategic importance to AkzoNobel – not only in our Performance Coatings and Decorative Paints business areas, where we make and sell coatings for industrial and consumer applications, but also in our Specialty Chemicals business area, where we provide ingredients to coatings formulators.
The Waterborne Technologies CoP serves to bring these diverse interests together.
